DeGraff OH: (6/19) Shady Bowl Speedway fans were treated to a great
night of racing with no threat of rain in what can best be described
as the worst spring weather for racing in memory. The rural oval
finally saw the 2010 debut of the American Modified Series with 23
cars signing in. Greg Stapleton the 09 champion, set fast time with
a lap of 13.91. The roll of the dice saw the number seven turn up,
forcing Stapleton to start in the 7th spot in the 40 lap main. Mike
Carroll of Kettering a former AMS champ, took control of the field
at the drop of the green in his McDonalds backed racer. Carroll
showed his car was up to snuff by dominating the entire race. Bud
Perry was able to catch Carroll, but could not mount a serious
challenge. John Lawhorn, Rob Yelton and Stapleton rounded out the
top five .
The
Super Cup Late Model Series made its Shady Bowl debut with a 100 lap
feature. West Virginia driver Jody Harrison dominated the night
setting fast time and winning the KTH 100 feature. Kevin Kromer,
Todd Peck, Harvey Harrison and Tom Williams finished second thru
fifth. Williams had a rough night, as he running second when spun by
Peck and restarted on the tail. He worked his way back up to third,
only to be dumped again by Peck.
The
sport stocks were also racing with Plain City driver Richard Roush
winning the 20 lap bump and run feature in his Elias Special Camaro.
The event saw several spins and crashes before Roush took the
checker followed by Jesse Gade, Chad Fiessinger, Aaron Pippin and
Rick Thompson.
The
Pro 4 main turned out to a batle betwen David Gerstner and Dave Sage
as they battled the entire 20 laps. Sage was forced to watch
Gerstner take the checker for the second straight week. Rodney
Schrack, Tom Voyles and Steve Clarkson finished third thru fifth.
The
20 lap compact feature was won by Steven Salyer in T&A Designs
Chevy . The win was far from easy as current point leader Mason
Patrick pressured him almost the entire way only to finish second.
Jim Massengill. Todd Turvene and Justin Pope rounded out the top
five
This
Saturday (6/26) the Bowl will play host to Firecracker 50 for the
Modifieds paying $5000.00 to the winner. The sport stocks, Dwarf
cars and compacts will also be on the schedule. Racing will start at
7.
