Jerry Stapleton took advantage of his pole position start to lead the first 16 laps before a spin by Chris Prater brought out the yellow. On the resart officials found Stapleton to be leaking oil, putting him into the pits. Phillipsburg's  John Lawhorn  then took over the top spot in Lawhorn Machine and Tool backed racer. The race was all but over at that point, as the 60 year old Lawhorn showed the the young lions the quick way around to post the win. Brad Yelton was a close second, followed by Rob Yelton, Mike Carroll and fast qualifier Greg Stapleton. The AMS point standings could not have been tighter, with three drivers (Stapleton, Carroll and Bud Perry) all tied with 297 points entering the nights action. A final point tally will be announced soon, as officials review all the results for 2010.

DeGraff OH: It was a scorching hot night for racers Saturday as Shady Bowl Speedway hosted the Delille Oxygen Firecracker 50 for the modifieds. A full field of 24 cars was set to take the green when a huge oil leak from Aaron Pippin put the start on hold. Bud Perry, a former American Modified Series champion took the lead  on lap one. The Edgerton OH driver put his Continental Express backed racer in the low groove forcing any passing attempt to take place on the high side. Veteran driver Mike Carroll put pressure on Perry the entire 50 laps with Rob Yelton running third. The trio ran the entire race bumper to bumper and passed under flagman Mathew Heitzman checkered flag in that order. Gregg Stapleton and Brad Williams rounded out the top five. DeGraff OH: (6/19) Shady Bowl Speedway fans were treated to a great night of racing with no threat of rain in what can best be described as the worst spring weather for racing in memory. The rural oval finally saw the 2010 debut of the American Modified Series with 23 cars signing in. Greg Stapleton the 09 champion, set fast time with a lap of 13.91. The roll of the dice saw the number seven turn up, forcing Stapleton to start in the 7th spot in the 40 lap main. Mike Carroll of Kettering a former AMS champ, took control of the field at the drop of the green in his McDonalds backed racer. Carroll showed his car was up to snuff by dominating the entire race. Bud Perry was able to catch Carroll, but could not mount a serious challenge. John Lawhorn, Rob Yelton and Stapleton rounded out the top five.
